Guidelines

All ads must have a defined edge such as a background color or key line. Creative with white backgrounds should have a clearly visible border, either solid color or 1 pixel line.

External provision of fireplace skin
These must comply with our specifications and be supplied at least 5 days before the start of the campaign. Please note that all designs are subject to Time Out approval and alterations may need to be made to fit with Time Out requirements.

Dimensions: Width 1366x (max width 1900) x min height 1200px.
Center page area: 1150px 

Skin guidelines

  • 3rd party 1x1 pixel and click tracker should be supplied for external tracking.
  • Pixel and click trackers should be supplied at least 3 days before the start of the campaign.
  • If no 3rd party tracking elements are supplied, Time Out will count clicks and impressions internally.
  • Max file size 250kb 

Site Expandable (desktop)

Guidelines

Expandable formats beyond the dimensions displayed are available upon request

  • All expansion must be user initiated
  • Panels must have a visible close button (X CLOSE) 100% of the time located within the expandable panel
  • Audio/video may only be within the expanded panel and may play automatically. Stop/Mute and Start buttons are required

Sound
Sound must be user initiated

Please note: If the sound is initiated by click there should also be a visible mute button.
If the sound is initiated by mouse roll over, it should also stop on mouse off. 

Rich Media + Overlays

  • Dimensions: 800x450 pixels maximum
  • Video File: max 1MB
  • Sound must be user initiated
  • Audio must be user-initiated with the same action to stop as is used to play (Click to Play/Click to Stop; Mouse over to Play/Mouse Off to Stop). Stop/Mute and Start buttons are required.
  • A clearly defined close button must be visible at all times: clicking on the button should close the ad immediately.
  • Video cannot loop more than one time and cannot exceed more than 30 seconds total animation; 15 seconds preferred.

Note: Overlays/Floating ads may be viewable by only certain browsers and operating systems. We will not show the ad for any browsers or operating systems when the technology could cause system instability or crashes. 


Dedicated Emails

Guidelines

Dedicated emails are the perfect platformfor you to deliver your brand message to our engaged Time Out audience. In order for usto ensure your message has the highest level of reception possible, it must adhere to our dedicated email template, outlined to the right.

Please provide the following elements for your dedicated email:

  • Photo (660x400)- must be horizontal. Collages or posed shots should be avoided. Must be high-impact, and editorial in style, i.e. no overlayed text, logos, or other graphic elements. Please note that if you have no access to suitable photography, our creative team will source imagery for you.
  • Logo (250x90) - jpg format, must be horizontal and centered with no color backdrop, and should be submitted separately and not embedded in word doc.
  • Subject Line - about 5-7 words
  • Headline - must be short, direct, and no more than two lines - about 10 words
  • Standfirst - a secondary line to draw the reader in - no more than 20 words
  • Main message - use this space to provide details about your venue or event - no more than 100 words

Guidelines

Clients will be required to provide the following assets:

  • Leaderboards (728x90)
  • Mobile Banners (320x50)
  • Rectangle (300x250)

A live-clickthrough URL will be needed for each ad unit

Wide Rectangle (optional)For clients with a Content Hub on the Time Out site, this space will be used for a traffic driver to the hub, designed by Time Out

Commercial Tiles
Clients will be required to provide the following assets:

  • Venue/Event Photo (1024x683) - images with graphic elements and text overlayed will not be accepted
  • Venue/Event Title & Description - to appear on newsletter (20 words), and linked page on Time Out site (100-300 words is recommended)

All assets above must be provided 3 days prior to newsletter send.
